Donaldson Institute. Provides information on adoption research. A great resource! – Openness in Adoption by Ruth McRoy and Harold Grotevant. Minnesota Texas Adoption Research Project – The most comprehensive, longitudinal study on openness in adoption. I also highly suggest the books that have been generated from this study. – National Center for Health Statistics – Information on Birth statistics as well as other very interesting non-adoption related issues. – Bastard Nation – One of our favorite reform groups, Bastard Nation works on getting and keeping the records of adopted persons open and available. They have a lot of great information on how you can get involved. Besides open record legislation, BN also does a lot of work with “safe haven” legislation. Check out their logo. – The American Adoption Congress (AAC) is an international network of individuals and organizations committed to truth in adoption and to reform that protects all of those involved from abuse or exploitation. Membership is open to adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents, professionals, and all others who share a commitment to the AAC’s goals. – The Center for Family Connections – Founded by Joyce Maguire Pavao, author of The Family of Adoption, this Cambridge, MA organization offers therapeutic services for all members of the triad as well training and conferences. – The Sunflower Birthmom list is a great place for birthmoms in reunion or closed adoptions to get information and support. Adoption Works: Birthmothers Helping Birthmothers Lifemothers – A great website for birthmoms of all ages. There is information and support for everyone, from those in closed adoptions to fully open. – Morning Glory Press – A full line publisher of books for pregnant and parenting teens as well as the professionals that serve them. Books range from understanding your pregnancy, as well as parenting books from newborn to preschool. Many resources for teen-age fathers as well.
